Parking Is Tight in the ‘Burbs

NAI HIffman is the top property manager in the Chicago area
by SF (200+ buildings),
so we’ve tapped managing director Bob
Assoian for Bisnow’s
Property
Management & Sustainability Summit
on Aug. 28. Suburban trends he’s
seeing: condensed, collaborative offices putting a strain on parking
(some companies now look for five to six spaces per 1,000 SF); more Energy Star momentum
than LEED, as it requires less capital investment; and a ramp up of
institutional medical
office trades. Their biggest competitor today is
self-management, Bob says. Recent suburban office buyers are boutique firms who are
likely to self manage.
“Our job is to show them how hiring us to manage adds value and brings synergy,”
he says.
